Swinburne combines teaching, research and industry expertise
within a supportive real world learning environment which
produces great professional outcomes for its graduates.
As part of its major Professional Learning initiative,
Swinburne is increasing its range of work based and project
based learning options and overseas study opportunities,
strengthening industry connections and integrating career
skills development even more firmly in undergraduate
teaching.
Within Swinburne's Professional Learning Model, undergraduates undertake a range of experiential learning activities, receiving feedback on their development of generic skills while becoming increasingly capable in their chosen disciplines.
The Professional Learning Model provides undergraduates with a structured range of development opportunities, including career assistance embedded within the curriculum, complementary Electives Plus studies designed to diversify career profile, international study and work-integrated learning opportunities, and options to speed up, slow down or spread out studies to suit life commitments. As well, final-year curricula feature industry-oriented capstone projects designed to prepare graduates for the transition to professional practice.
The Model will continue to evolve in order to ensure that Swinburne continues to produce professionally-oriented graduates who are equipped with skill sets which are matched to contemporary industry needs.
These features of Swinburne's Professional Learning Model are available to domestic students undertaking undergraduate bachelor degree programs offered at Swinburne's Melbourne and Sarawak campuses.
Restrictions apply to international students in Australia on student visas, students admitted into programs with significant levels of advanced standing and students who undertake Swinburne programs in online/distance mode, designed and offered in conjunction with overseas or industry partners or delivered by Open Universities Australia.
