FAQs: Applications, Offers, Enrolment and Withdrawal

What is a nested Letter of Completion (LOC)?

A nested Letter of Completion (LOC) is for postgraduate students enrolled in a course that has stages.

For example, a student enrolled in the Master of Information Technology (IT) can apply for a nested LOC to show that they have completed their graduate certificate or graduate diploma stages. In this case, provided they are continuing on with their studies to a higher level of award, the student will not need to apply for graduation, just a nested LOC to show successful stage completion .

Conditions for turnaround time and urgent application are the same as a normal LOC.

What is a conditional offer?

A student can apply for a postgraduate course even if their current course is not yet complete. Swinburne will issue a conditional offer and the student is required to submit their final results before or during enrolment.

If a student has received a conditional offer, they must fulfil the conditions stated in their offer. The type of evidence that must be submitted depends on the condition as listed on the letter of offer. Examples include:

  • Official or certified copies of academic transcripts
  • Completion letters or certificates

What is admission with Advanced Standing?

Graduates with outstanding results in a relevant qualification may be eligible to apply for admission with Advanced Standing.

Students receive credits for some or all units already studied, thereby reducing the time needed to complete a qualification.
